Canguro, one of the most influential and renowned bloggers in the LiveJournalSphere, has a simple message for “bandwidth thieves” (those whom contribute to accrual of unfortunate “Bandwidth Limit Exceeded” messages). And I quote (emphasis added):
“THANKS TO EVERYONE FUCKING HOTLINKING ALL MY FUCKING ICONS AND FUCKING PICTURES MY BANDWIDTH HAS FUCKING EXCEEDED.
I HOPE YOU BITCHES ARE HAPPY.”
This comment was posted in the beatriz_barros “community” at LiveJournal, but our investigators have yet to determine whether the rebuke was leveled at the beatriz_barros community in particular or perhaps browsers who might frequent the forum.
We’ll have more news coverage of this shocking conflict as it arises.

Yet another hysterical anti-Bush site. Sell the Ranch. Its all about how everyone in the Bush Administration is, like, lying or something and how that is all, like, bad for the country. Whatever.
Thank the many gods for the Internet.

Okay, so the Quentin Tarantino movies may have sucked ass, but that doesn’t mean you need to be viewing this site with a substandard web browser. That’s right! The InterNerds are assailing Billy Gates and his MicroSoftness again. AND THIS TIME THEY ARE MAD AS HELL AND AREN’T GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!
You may have already noticed the prodding if you visited this site using IE. If not, then go ahead and try this page with a M$ browser. Go on! I dare you!
If you have already escaped the tyranny of IE and landed on the shores of a better browser (such as Safari or Firefox), then good for you. You have probably added 3 or 4 years to your life. If you haven’t already made the switch and you’re finally getting serious about your web browsing, then click below.

“Dude, You’re Everywhere!!” This is what Tom Meggs told me a few years ago and to a degree I realized it, but my understanding of the phenomenon dealt with the rather limited scope of the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area. And even then it was pretty much limited to the Open Source and Triangle InterNetWorkers realms.
Now that I have been around long enough to break pretty much every accepted norm on the Internet, it seems that the spider’s web grows vastly more intricate and far-reaching. By far, the most popular things I’ve ever put on the Internet are the stunning Fiona Apple image I put on my weblog (which I stole from somewhere else) and the Puppy Dog Eyes photo of Alva as a beautiful baby dog. From my weblog stats, I can tell that these have been linked an infinite number of times on various fan weblogs, myspace profiles and chatty bulletin boards. What I find most interesting is when images other than these two are passed around.

Probably the coolest thing I’ve seen recently is to have my special moment from a few years ago (dubbed “redneck chic“) chronicled along with other powerful images of Southern heritage. It is a myspace profile called earnhardt4life and it makes me proud to be an American. Well, that and the fact that I made the exclusive WRAL.com Triangle Area Web Logs list. Woot! Take that boing boing!!
There are other stories, but its late and I’m tired. Peace out, little yos!

That one on the right is too damn happy, but I wouldn’t mess with the mom on the left. She is givin’ you the stank eye. (And isn’t the one in the middle the actress who played Marcy [Al Bundy's neighbor] on Married with Children?)

So I have come to realize that I just don’t have the time (or energy or dedication) to be a hardcore daily blogger. That’s okay. I never wanted to be a nerd on that grand of scale anyway. I wish I could just post directly from my brain and not have to waste time using a keyboard or searching for old links or whatever. Then again, you might be a bit terrified if I were posting direct via cerebral cortex. Ahhh… We can always dream, can’t we?
I want to see this movie, like, so bad. Even if some big wig movie execs want to squash it. Well, actually because big wig movie execs want to squash it. Stealing Innocence sounds like the kind of movie we should all be watching these days.
I happened upon the movie link while browsing Nina Gordon’s website. If you’re old enough to remember Veruca Salt (the rock band, not the fantasy character) then you may know who Nina is. I haven’t heard her solo record, but now that I know it exists I will be looking for it in my local record shop. Regardless, she offers some sound clips on her site and even a cover version of the N.W.A classic “Straight Outta Compton.”
Okay, my little homies and homettes — Back to my ever increasing stack of books. Sunday is fer readin’.

Well, I haven’t passed along any links recently. Not my fault. There hasn’t been much worth passing along. People the world over are pissing themselves over the not-so-funny “Emo Farm” video (if you want a link, you can go find it elsewhere) and a bunch of other garbage that isn’t funny. And most of the “scholarly” stuff I’ve been told to read looks like a mish-mash of yesterday’s intellectualism and tomorrow’s prescription for failure — resulting in an unreadable mess. There have been blog entries by highly educated people that, upon successive re-reads, I still cannot understand WTF they are trying to say. So guess what? I stopped reading them.
Regardless, a tiny sliver of hope for humanity was revealed today when Jason sent along a link to The Ludwig von Mises Institute. The link he sent was a funny one. Or maybe it was meant to be ironic. Or just downright depressing considering the context of US Government in 2005. Anyway, it reminded me of a great organization that actually publishes works worth reading. I think the Mises Economics Blog is where I’ll be spending my valuable reading minutes for the foreseeable future.
Okay, one more link for good measure. JoinTogether.org Let’s hope they can make a difference before their website is outlawed.
