This is it! This is the place that most folks associate with Death Valley. Badwater Basin Salt Flats, the lowest point in North America, measured at 282 feet below sea level. It is quite the spectacular sight to behold, but you certainly do not want to visit in the Summertime. It gets upwards of 134 degrees here and can basically roast you in a few minutes. The best times to visit are early Spring and later in Fall. This rough salt flat terrain looks a lot like the area called Devil’s Golf Course just a bit to the north. The flat areas are where tourists are allowed to walk out for a mile or so. Bring water and a hat for shade, so the experience is not so extreme. Badwater Basin is definitely worth visiting, but be selective about the time of year and weather conditions.
