After a grueling multi-hour ascent of the 2000 steps to Dead Woman’s Pass, we got to take a quick breather at 4215 meters (13,828 feet) before hiking down for an hour or so to our camp spot for the night. This was without a doubt the most physically challenging part of this journey. The views from here are supposed to be extraordinary, but for our quick visit we were surrounded by fog in every direction. As we hiked down the backside, the fog passed on within the hour and provided a night of fantastic views. April 23, 2015. Day Two of our Inca Trail hike.
