For four days we hiked the Inca Trail and this was our view a lot of the time. Lush green forest with neatly laid out rock paths. This hike was always a challenge, especially with a 20-30 pound pack on your back. In some sections, the steps up could be 12 inches or higher.

A white horse was munching grass near a meandering river. This was fifty feet or so from the Inca Trail starting point, and we had four days and three nights to complete it (with the help of our excellent guides and porters). This animal was indeed the last horse we’ll see for a while.
