The wide expanse of Death Valley is characterized by its lowest point, Badwater Basin. This location is in the middle of Death Valley National Park, so regardless of the direction of your approach, you’ll be driving for a while before you get here. It sits in the Eastern shadow of the Panamint Mountain range and has a steep rising mountainside directly at its back. Essentially this area would be like one giant swimming pool if biblical floods were to arrive. A swimming pool nearly 300 feet deep!
