This view of the Badwater Basin parking lot provides a sense of scale for just how high and steep the cliffs rise in the background. Midway through that steep rise is a sign that says “SEA LEVEL” so you can imagine where the ocean would be if it were to pass through this area. Once you have walked out for a bit and look back, the people and vehicles look very tiny. This is the lowest point in North America, measured at 282 feet below sea level.
