Hiram Bingham was the adventurer who chose to lead the expedition to locate a lost city in the clouds. A while later and with the help of several local guides, he was able to discover the lost city of Machu Picchu with nature beginning to reclaim it. This pioneering effort led to efforts to preserve this location as a global historic site.
