As we walked around for hours trying to avoid snakes and tarantulas, we spent time amongst some of the largest and oldest trees on Planet Earth. It was spectacular to behold these unperturbed giants towering above everything else. As expected, the root systems for these trees were substantial.
One of the unique things our rainforest guides pointed out were the Socratea exorrhiza, or “walking” palm tree.
